What you need

tsp red chili flakes

bunch fresh chives

cup gruyere

tsp freshly cracked black pepper

cup extra-virgin olive oil

cup shredded mozzarella

cup parmesan cheese

italian bread

unsalted butter

tsp kosher salt
lemon zest

clove garlic clove
Instructions
Make the garlic confit. Preheat oven to 250°F. Place garlic cloves in a ramekin or small baking dish, and pour in olive oil until they are fully submerged. Sprinkle with salt and cover the ramekin with a lid or aluminum foil, if you don’t have a lid. Bake for 2 hours, or until the garlic is golden brown and meltingly tender. Remove from the oven and set oven temperature to 375°F. In a large bowl, combine softened butter, Mozzarella, Gruyere, Parmesan, pepper, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, and lemon juice. A thick paste should form. On one half of the Italian bread loaf, spread on the butter paste thick and evenly. Bake for about 15 minutes, until deep golden brown. Remove from oven. Carefully place garlic confit cloves on top of the cheesy bread, spread out. Garnish with fresh chives. Slice bread into small pieces for serving. Enjoy!View original recipe
